The Power of Authenticity: Lauryn of The Skinny Confidential

The Power of Authenticity: Lauryn of The Skinny Confidential

You Are Amazing, Be Unapologetically You Today & Everyday

Do you recall the moment where you came to the realization that you are self-aware. This is a really deep question, but it is so important. Self-awareness is such a powerful mechanism that has the power to generate so much happiness in your life, everyday. Self-awareness provides you with such peace, you recognize your strengths and accept your weaknesses. You continuously cultivate your dream and if you are not happy you change it because you know that there is so much more out there for you.  Your life is about consistently breaking your own limits and tapping into your limitless potential. Your limitless potential is cultivated from accentuating your strengths. Remember, you are not in competition with anyone else, plan to out-do your past, not other people around you.  Be enlightened with the fact we are all on different journeys and experiencing different things. You are not alone. Focus on challenging yourself to be better and grow stronger everyday. When you fall out of self-awareness or lose sight, journal. It is your only solution, write it all down. Watch what happens…self-awareness. If you choose to live life authentically, you will consistently be self-aware about your passions and dreams. You will be happier.

Authenticity is the daily practice of letting go who we think we’re supposed to be and embracing who we are  Brené Brown

Interview with Lauryn of The Skinny Confidential

No. 1 – Introduce yourself: Who is Lauryn & which personal traits helped define your journey?

The idea for The Skinny Confidential came about when I was attending San Diego State University. I was incredibly frustrated by the lack of healthy food options on campus… and I was BORED. At the time I was going to school full-time, working days & nights, and teaching reformer Pilates and Pure Barre. Also, I was on a major budget.

So, I started modifying all of my meals & the rest is history.

I would take off one side of the bread in a sandwich or swap lettuce for spinach, sweeten coffee with cinnamon, make taco salads, you get it. Then one day I sort of had a lightbulb moment and thought, “why not share my tips and tricks with other women? There’s 20,000 women on campus, they need these tricks too! And shit, I want their tips.”

Since then, The Skinny Confidential has evolved from a fitness and health blog to a community for women all over the world to come & SPILL their tips & tricks. It’s a source of inspiration for women. The Skinny Confidential is also a book, a podcast, and soon to be product line.

No. 2 – Share your thoughts about self-awareness. What moment or moments led you to realize you are self-aware? And, was this a defining moment in your journey?

Being self-aware and practicing gratitude are fundamental for happiness & success. I am self-aware in the sense that I know EXACTLY what I want to do with The Skinny Confidential. I have a clear vision & I don’t let outside influences impact that vision.

No. 3 – What is the mission behind TSC?

The Skinny Confidential’s mission is to create a community for women all over the world to come & share their tips & tricks. It’s all about being the best version of yourself. It’s a source of inspiration.

No. 4 – What routine habits are you presently practicing and how do these habits add value to your day?

I sweat once a day. I read once a day. I’m all about energy. Oils, music, candles, the work flow. My time blocking cube helps a lot.

No. 5 – When you experience moments of uncertainty, how do you empower yourself to remain positive?

Uncertainty is where the magic happens. If you’re not uncertain about something it means you probably aren’t challenging yourself enough. You have to embrace the uncomfortable

No. 6 – Share with us any hobbies that you love, that not many people know about you?

I love to eat alone- haha.
I also LOVE LOVE LOVE to read.
Also, baking. It’s so fun- I wish I baked more. There’s something therapeutic about it.

No. 7 – How do you incorporate balance into your life?

Prioritizing is key. When you prioritize your time it’s much easier to find balance. Say no to shit you hate & find time for self-care like yoga. DELEGATE! To-do lists. Time block.

No. 8 – Share with us your top three energizing snacks that help you stay fueled on a busy day.

You can always find snacks in my bag since I’m constantly on the go. Right now you will find fresh fruit like watermelon, RX Bars, raw almond, & popcorn. Also smoothies are life- listen to the Be Well By Kelly Podcast for all my favs.

No. 9 – Tell us your favorite quote right now

“Stop doing shit you hate.” – Gary Vee
